Tata Motors Auto Expo 2023: Top Cars To Check Out
After a three-year hiatus, Tata Motors Auto Expo is finally back. At this year’s event, as usual, many manufacturers will unveil several concepts, future tech, and upcoming models.
Tata Motors plans to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with new models and higher prices, the chief executive said on Wednesday, consolidating its lead as India’s top-selling electric vehicle (EV) company. The automaker also plans to offer a range of electric vehicles, including a shorter range for driving within the city, to meet the needs of multiple buyers.
Tata’s upcoming electric cars:
At Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors is preparing to showcase several electric vehicles, including Avinya and Curvy prototypes. Last year, Tata Motors unveiled its Curvv and Avinya EV concepts making their first public appearances at the Auto expo.
Built on the second generation of the Nexon EV platform, the Curve concept is essentially a preview of a future midsize coupe SUV due to hit the market by 2024, with both EV and ICE powertrain options. Avinya, on the other hand, is an electric vehicle from the ground up, using Tata’s more advanced Gen 3 architecture. Looking at its proportions and dimensions, it’s clear that Avinya is nothing more than a purpose-built electric vehicle. Its design is based on batteries and electric motors placed in far corners to maximize cabin space. It also offers the use of sustainable materials and receives a unique aroma diffuser for the cabin. At the expo, Tata will also showcase future technologies such as hydrogen fuel, ADAS technology and the latest in connected car technology, which will soon be introduced in the Harrier and Safari facelifts.
The Tata Punch EV
One of the most anticipated models at this year’s Auto Expo, the all-electric version of the Punch will be the first electrified model based on the automaker’s Sigma platform. This model is expected to go on sale around Christmas 2023. The Punch EV could use a powertrain similar to Tata’s existing electric vehicles. Tata has yet to announce battery specs for the Punch EV, but like Tiago and Nexon EV, Tata could offer multiple battery pack options. The Punch EV is expected to be Rs 1-1.5 lakhs higher than the top-tier Punch AMT. Tata is pursuing a multi-powertrain strategy to maximise volume in its existing model line, as demonstrated by the Tiago and Tigor, which are available in petrol, CNG and electric. After Punch EV, there will likely be a CNG version, which could also be showcased at Auto Expo.
Tata Nexon Facelift
At Auto Expo 2023 starting this week, Tata Motors will be showcasing the next generation of many of its most popular cars, including the Tata Nexon, facelifted Harrier and Safari models. The Nexon CNG and Punch CNG have been discussed for so long that it is believed that Tata’s upcoming CNG vehicle will also be on display at this year’s Auto Expo. Like last year, Tata Motors is preparing something extra this year and the whole country will hear about it this week.
Tata Harrier 2023
Tata Motors is preparing a facelift for its midsize Tata Harrier SUV, which is expected to hit the market in 2023. It will most likely be announced at Auto Expo 2023. Newer models may include subtle design changes and upgraded interiors. The SUV also comes with ADAS functions, a 360-degree camera, and more. It is also expected to be equipped with a new gasoline engine not found in the current model.
As with the new Harrier, Tata Motors is also testing an updated version of its Safari SUV. The new model received some high-end features and redesigned styling and interiors.
ADAS features such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and blind spot monitoring are also available. The SUV will be equipped with a new 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission.
