Introduction to Tata Tiago EV Hatchback:

Tata Motors Company has launched the highly anticipated Tata Tiago EV Hatchback in India. The new Tata EV is the entry point into Tata Motors' EV portfolio, which sits below the Tata Tigor EV compact sedan. The Tiago EV is also aggressively priced, making it the cheapest mainstream EV in the Indian market. The Tiago EV will feature Tata's Ziptron powertrain technology and the hatchback body style will reduce costs and bring it closer to a wider user base. 





The Tata Tiago accelerates from 0-60km/h in just 5.7 seconds and has a range of up to 315km on a single charge. It also has leather seats, sport mode, cruise control, automatic wipers and headlights, connected car technology and more.

Pricing and specifications of Tata Tiago EV:

The Tata Tiago EV has been launched in India at an introductory price of Rs 8.5 million (out of showroom) with a smaller 19.2kWh XE variant. The top-end XZ+ Tech LUX variant with a larger 24kWh battery pack will cost Rs 11.79 lakh (excluding showrooms). Available in two battery pack options. The vehicle also offers multiple charging options for different needs.


Tata Motors has reserved the Tata Tiago price  for the first 10,000 customers and is subject to change once allotted inventory is exhausted.

The Tata Tiago EV is based on the Tata Tiago hatchback sold in India since 2016. The Tiago EV is a cost-effective product intended to bring to the masses the compact, easy-to-use advantages of a hatchback with an economical electric powertrain.


The Tata Tiago EV looks a lot like the existing ICE-equipped Tata Tiago hatchback. However, the design has been overhauled by blocking the nose, redesigning the air dam and adopting Tata's signature tri-arrow pattern design. Electric blue accents have also been added to harmonize with other Tata electric vehicles. Tiago EV maintains its sporty stance by retaining the black contrast roof, blacked out ORVM, door handles and rear spoiler element. The wheels have also been updated with new highlight elements in a wind tunnel tested aerodynamic design.

Features and battery options of Tata Tiago EV:

The Tata Tiago EV features Tata's Ziptron technology and is available with two battery pack options. The small battery pack is rated at 19.4 kWh and the large battery pack is 24 kWh. Equipped with a 19.4 kWh battery pack, the Tata Tiago EV is expected to provide a range of 250 km of the estimated MIDC test cycle range. According to MIDC, a larger battery pack is sufficient for a range of 315 km. The Tiago EV powertrain (battery and motor) is IP67 certified and comes with an 8-year (16,000 km) warranty.

According to Tata, despite running on the economical and reliable Ziptron powertrain, the Tiago EV was able to accelerate from standstill to 60 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. Tiago EV also has four charging options: 15A home socket, 3.3kW AC home charger, 7.2kWh AC home charger, and DC fast charger. With a 7.2 kW fast charger, the Tiago EV is fully charged in just 3 hours and 36 minutes, and from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes with a DC charger.


Feature-wise, the Tata Tiago EV is equipped with multi-level regenerative braking, cruise control and sport mode, as previously expected. The Tata includes perforated white leatherette seats, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, power windows, refrigerated glove box, start/stop button, rear wiper and demister, fog lights, LED DRL, projector headlights and more. Also includes premium features for , a digital instrument cluster, a Harman touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an eight-speaker system.

Technology in Tata Tiago EV:

Tiago EV will also get segment-first connected car technology using Tata's ZConect technology, enabling remote climate control, vehicle tracking and geofencing, charging station location, driving data analytics and more. Tata also offers smartwatch integration. Tiago EV is based on a 4-star platform, equipped with airbags, ABS, EBD, rear view camera and sensors.
